Artical
1.) List a few of the gases which lead to acid rain.
sulfer dioxide and nitrogen oxides
2.) What is the source of much of the acid rain producing gases in Pennsylvania?
sulfer dioxide
3.) Briefly explain how acid rain forms.
It forms when sulfer dioxide and nitrogen oxides in the atmosphere combine with water.

Guatemala Artical
- What are some natural factors causing mudslides in Guatemala? They have frequent earthquakes, hurricanes and a lot of rain.
- What are some human factors causing mudslides in Guatemala? By cutting down trees. The trees help stop the mud but if you don't have any tree's the mud will be a lot faster and all of it will come.
- What is being done to help reduce mudslides and mudslide damage? They are trying not to cut down as many tree's. Plant pine trees instead of regular trees.

global temperture graph and questions
* What is the horizontal scale of your graph? It is the years. How many years does it show? it shows 1880-2000.
* What is the vertical axis showing? The temperature What are the units? 0.5 What is the total range shown?
* Can you tell from the picture's host page where the data came from? no it does no show it. If so, where?

Soil question 4 pg 266
Grassland Soil-can grow grass and sometimes has different seasons and only gets rain in part of the year and then another part of the year they will get rain but only enough to grow grass and not trees.
Forest Soil-Gets a lot of rain and they get tons of trees and grass. They have no problem growing trees or grass. It is also really warm most of the time and if it is warm and it has ran then the trees and plants and grass with grow faster.

4 questions
* 1 - What do you think the global average temperature is? This means the average for everywhere on Earth, day and night, for an entire year. Explain why you answered what you did.
I think it would be around 78 because alot of places it can get high 100's and it can get below 0 and that is kinda in the middle of all the numbers.
* 2 - People are often talking about "global warming." How much do you think the average global temperature has increased in the past 100 years? Do you think that this is a lot?
It has problly gone up about 20 of maybe more maybe less. I think it is a lot because the people are just doing htis it isnt the earth doing it, its the people and to make the whole earth change its tempature because of us is scary and i think its a lot.
* 3 - What do you think is the hottest the Earth has ever been? (since there has been an atmosphere?) How about the coldest the Earth has ever been? Explain why you answered what you did.
I think it has been over 200 degrease. The coldest i think it has ever been is -200 degrease too. Because it has been warmer then the coldest temp. I said and it has been colder then 200 degrease before.
* 4 - Are you concerned about "global warming?" Why or why not?
Yes, i am concerned about global warming because it can kill the planet and the temp. is coming really quickly and if we don't try to stop global warming then its just going to get worse and it will adventully kill us and the planet.

Dente's Peak Blog
Three things that are scientific are how the volcano exploded because it was smoking at first and it was a "tiny" eruption. Then there was the actual explosion which is a lot bigger. Also when the grandmother went in the pond when the water had cemicals in it that could kill her and it did. It burned her legs because the water was so hot. Lastly, how fast the lava was going down the volcano. When it was chasing them it was not like real life, because it wasn't going that fast.
